Start with a real question
We look at everyday environmental challenges and ask where engineering could help.
The people behind the ideas
We’re students.
We’re builders.
We’re EcoTek.
Based in San Diego, we bring curiosity and hands-on engineering to environmental challenges. We’re learning how thoughtful technology can help people take better care of the world around them.
Why we started
Make sustainability
something we can build.
Our work starts with a simple question: how can we use what we’re learning to address a real problem?
That question led us to Waste Wise, our smart compost-bin prototype. It brings together electronics, sensor readings, and physical design to make the conditions inside a compost bin easier to observe.
We’re developing the project through experimentation, working through practical challenges and improving the design as we learn.
How we work
Learning is part of the design.
Build together
We combine ideas and practical skills, from wiring sensors to working on the bin itself.
Learn from the prototype
We use observations and feedback to guide the next improvement.
